Progress!  The sun has come out in Fairbanks, and with it the heavy equipment at the homestead.  More of the driveway has been installed, the leach field for the septic has been dug, installed, and buried, and the septic and water holding tanks have been installed.  We've had a little bit of rain since this weekend which has been holding up the rest of the foundation work; hoping it stays sunny like last year so the concrete work can start.

Hi babe!

Rebecca and Deb look on while Dave wanders around in the mud
More of the pad and gravel in place

 Water tank is in
Septic and leach field are in

Hopefully we'll have more soon!

1st days, picking the lot

Hello family and friends!  Rebecca and I are building our first house together in Ester, Alaska, just south of Fairbanks.  These pictures are from 4/26, after most of the snow had finally melted, when we went out and selected our lot.

More or less standing where the future end of our driveway will be.

Looking over at our lot from the neighboring lot, most of those trees are ours!

About a two weeks later, I rode up to get a look at the lot after everything more or less finished melting to get a better idea of the landscape.

Lots of willows still in the way, so it was time for Ben (our builder) to get the heavy equipment out and make some room!
